Alaska 2013

This was a pretty dramatic catch with the right paw making the assist into the mouth.

I've named this "Just Out Of Reach". It's as though the fish knew what was happening and turned his head to avoid the paw with all those sharp claws.

This was an unusual catch. the bear caught the fish with it's left paw as it jumped the falls, then brought the salmon up to her mouth where she secured the catch and ate the meal.

This was a fairly young bull moose, of about 4-5 years old, coming out of the woods near Denali National Park. His antlers were in velvet and still growing and will not be completely filled out for another 2 months or so. If he can avoid getting run over on the highway he will end up a true Alaskan Trophy Moose some day.

Mom went to the top of the falls to make a catch and when she brought the salmon to the shallows the two larger cubs rushed over to share in the bounty. She didn't relinquish the catch immediately but did finally let them take it away and finish the meal.

This ended up being a nice catch for mom and the cubs. This salmon was quite large and spread around nicely.
