  • A fresh catch of Pink Salmon, straight out of the Anan Creek, Alaska. Once your caught in the jaws of a large bear, there's no getting loose.

  • We took a boat ride while in Katmai NP to view more bears as they moved to other areas of the park. This is the older couple of very large brown bears that were napping on the beach as we drove up on Naknek Lake, at the mouth of Margo Creek. The salmon were so thick there were areas of the lake that were black, as they approached the creek.

  • "The Dance". They were playing on the beach and we photographed them for about 3 hours and they never paid any attention to us the entire time. At first we kept a good distance and as they entered the "dance" phase, we moved a little closer but still had some water between us and them while they were on this small gravel bar.

  • This was a younger couple that wandered up, playing with each other in the same fashion. They never noticed the older bears until the large male dispatched them from the area, and they left very quickly.

  • You would have thought these bears were a couple of teenagers the way they played with each other in the water.

  • Their play looked a little rough but when you weigh hundreds of pounds I guess everything you do is exaggerated.

  • I know we have eagles in Waco, but check out the Alaskan forest this fellow lives in. Wow.

  • This little yearling brown bear was acting like he was fishing on Anan Creek Alaska. He never came close to catching anything though.

  • Anan Creek in Alaska is one of the very few places where you can find black and brown bears both fishing for salmon, somewhat cooperatively. No bears are completely cooperative when it comes to fishing but let's say very tolerant of each other as long as everyone respects their "space" in the water.

  • Sunset picture from our hotel on the water in Wrangell Alaska. It was a small but lovely little town in a beautiful part of south eastern Alaska.

  • In this part of Alaska people are not allowed to build houses on National Forest Lands, so they have become resourceful and build floating river homes and anchor them in the rivers. No matter where they build they have to either boat or float plane out to their house so it doesn't matter how or where they place them. This works well they say.
